Mezzanine Floor – Aurora (2022) Album Review

Mezzanine Floor are a 5 piece progressive/hard rock band from the coastal city of Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape in South Africa. The band members are Tyran van der Merwe (Bass), Andrew Bentz (Guitar), Dixen van Onselen (Vocals), Kyle Allen (Drums) and Dylan van der Merwe (Electric Guitar). The band were 2014 finalist in Wacken Metal Battle, the South African leg.

I am going to listen to the band’s 2022 album Aurora and give my thoughts on the album. I do like the catchy design of the album. The album have 9 tracks on it.
1) Anointment! The Deathless One. – What a fantastic song to start the album with. Let the rock journey begin. The intro of the song is so good.
2) Gustance! The Mandable. – I do like the change of rhythm in the song. Also the mixture of vocals.
The band perfected the song.
3) Sentience! The Amygdala. – The song have mind blowing fast paced guitar riffs that takes the song to the next level. Pure enjoyment to listen to.
4) Cognizance! The Epiphany. – The song is 5 minutes plus. The song is out of this world. Everything the band did in this song, they nailed it. Do sit back and enjoy.
5) Aurora! The First Light. – The song is 7 minutes plus and pure magic. Not only a song for the fans of the band to enjoy, but for all rock and metal fans out there. A rock anthem for sure.

6) Audience! The Hollow. – Just under 10 minutes and you want more when the song has finished. What an epic song. A song to enjoy live. Not many radio stations have the balls to play songs this long uncut and unedited. Their loss. Those who do, horns up!
7) Tangency! The Defilement. – It would be a great song for a horror movie or a platform game. Play it loud so the neighbours can enjoy great music.
8) Tangency! The Midas Touch. – The song sure got the midas touch. Super cool guitar riffs and vocals make for pure enjoyment. A song to add to your playlist.
9) Voyance! The Spectre. – The final song is 11 minutes plus. A masterpiece to finish the rock journey with. What a powerful song to end the album with.

The band is amazing. Every track on the album is pure enjoyment. This is one of the best albums I have heard. The band deliver on every track and is hugely talented.
