Scarleth: Vortex Album Review

Scarleth are a Melodic / Modern Metal band from Kyiv, Ukraine. the band consists of Victor Morozov (guitar), Yana Kovalskaya (keyboards), Ekaterina Kapshuk (vocals), Igor Chumak (bass) and Philipp Kharouk (drums).

Over the last few years, I have been noticing a good few bands that have been coming out of Ukraine, with such bands Pagaland and Pestilence Age, and now Scarleth. So when I received Scarleth’s Vortex album through the other day, and I was going through some of the music that got, to see what I could put on my radio show, (Project Metal Across The Pond) and I put on Vortex, just to see what this album and band were like, and after the first couple of songs, I was somewhat impressed with what I heard.

When I sat down to listen to the album in full, I was impressed with the album to the point that I was rocking out to it and had to listen to it several more times, and with that it held up for me, as if a band can make me listen to their offering more than three times in one sitting, I know they are a band to keep an eye on in the future.

The track listings: Feeling The Heat, No Return, Be What You Are, Passion, No More Letters, Guardian Angel, Escape From Your Embrace, Ostannya Zorya, Pain Is My Name, Final Curtain and Break The Chains.

Over the the course of the Vortex album the songs that stood out for me were, Feel The Heat, No Return, Be What You Are, Guardian Angel, Escape From Your Embrace, Pain Is My Name, Final Curtain and Break The Chains. For these songs had something to them, on some they had some aggression to them and some had an epic sound. The first track Feel The Heat has a mixture of both and this song is a good opening track for the rest of the album.

When I got to the song Pain Is My Name, I was blown away by this song as this is my favourite song of the album, I don’t know why, on this song something spoke to me, as I thought about the song, and to why it spoke to me, more than the rest of the songs, I came to realize that the reason why I like it so much, is because of the guitars and there aggression, the heaviness of the drums, the brilliant use of the keys and the vocals of Ekaterina, it all culminated, in my mind, a powerfully epic Metal track.

Well, what more can I say about Scarleth, as this band is absolutely brilliant, so you you are into the Melodic and Modern Metal, or if you are just getting into the Metal genre then I would highly recommend that you go and check Scarleth out on their Facebook page and YouTube channel,

I would give Scarleth and their album Vortex a very solid 4.5 out of 5, for a brilliantly epic album.
