Levania are a Goth Metal band from Ferrara, Italy. The band consists of Elena – Lead vocals, Still – Keyboards & Vocals, Richie – Guitars, Fade – Bass and Markus – Drums.
Over the years, I have become a fan of a lot of genres of Rock and Metal, most notably Heavy, Thrash, Speed Symphonic and Goth Metal. So, when I received Levania’s The Day I Left Apart EP through, I put it on just to hear it and to get my initial thoughts of the EP, and those thoughts were good.
As I sat down to listen to the EP to give a more in-depth listen, those initial thoughts were correct. When I did a little research on the band and found out that they are a Goth band, I thought Oh, OK, I knew they were on the Goth side of things, when I initially listened to them. So as I listened to the EP, the songs that I either I like or I have found interesting are: Rising, Trace, Dried Blood, Total Recall and Your Eyes And My Fear.
Rising is a good intro song to The Day I Left Apart EP, as it has some brilliant guitars, synths etc, and the vocals are brilliant, as they have clean and growl, and the main vocal comes from a woman and the growl come from a man and who is also the Keyboardist. Trace is another great song, as it follows on from the first track with it upbeat vibe, and excellent guitars, drums, vocals etc. Dried Blood has that old school Goth vibe to it, but its with a modern twist, and the song in parts, especially on the vocals, has that Symphonic edge to it. Total Recall is another song that has that old school and Symphonic vibe, the vocals on this are really good, as they blend the clean and the growl perfectly. Your Eyes And My Fear is the last track off the EP, and it is good, as it blends the keys and the rest of the band brilliantly, and again the vocals are really good.
Now, when I listened to this EP, I listened to it several times, and I could hear some influences from bands, such as Lacuna Coil, Epica and possibly Nightwish and Within Temptation. So if you are into the Goth genre or just wanting to listen to something new, then I would recommend that you go and check Levania out on their Facebook page.
I would give Levania and their The Day I Left Apart EP a 4.5 5 out of 5.
