Fallen Fields are a Rock and Metal band from Kingston Upon Hull, UK. The band consists of Mr Howlett – Guitar & Vocals, Mr Silburn – Bass and Mr Shepley – Drums.
For a number of years I had fallen out of love with the Rock and Metal music, that was coming out of the UK, and turn to the European Rock and Metal scene, but in the last three years or so – ever since I started Project Metal Music – I have got back into UK scene, as I have come across a lot of amazing bands, one of those bands is Fallen Fields.
When I put the Fallen Fields One album on, to get a sense of what the band has created and my initial thoughts where this album is really good. So when I listened to the album for a second time, to really listen to what they have created, the first time is to get a general vibe and the second and third time, is to listen to the album hear what the music sounds like properly and hear what they have to say in the lyrics.
The songs that I have found that I liked or I have found interesting are: Dead To Me, Bunny God, Do What They Say, If This Is All There Is, Where You Go, Sway, Serenado, Forever Never, The Rising, Choked and Last Lament.
I like the overall sound on Dead To Me, as it has that Eighties Rock vibe to it, especially on the guitars, as the guitars have that slightly de-tuned set up and drums have a simpler arrangement, its nothing fancy, they drive the song along really. Bunny God is a song that reminds me of the Foo Fighters, but a slightly slower and in some parts of the song slightly heavier than the Foo Fighters. Do What They Say is a fun upbeat track, that will have you tapping your foot and nodding your head, as it has the fast pace beat to it. If This Is All There Is, this track is on the flip side Do What They Say, as the song is on the slower paced, it has some really cool acoustic guitars interspersed in the song and some really cool electric guitars, both types of guitars help set the tone of the song and drums with there methodical beat and the vocals are sublime, so all together, Fallen Fields have created brilliant track. With the track Sway, they have leaned more towards the Metal genre, especially on the guitars and drums, as they have went with a more of a heavier sound. Serenado is another one of those songs that has an upbeat vibe to it, thanks in part of the drums and the bass, and the bass has a more leading role on the track. The Rising is an epic seven minute forty seconds track, with some amazing guitars on it, the vocals are brilliant, and the drums are on point, this is one of my favourites off the album. Choked is a really good track, as this will get your foot tapping and your head nodding. Last Lament is the last track on the One album and it is another epic track, the song leans towards more to the, dare I say, Doom Metal, in the construct of the song, what I mean is, the guitars and drums are more heavier on this track than some of the other songs on the album, I really like this song, because of the guitars and the overall sound of it.
Well, overall, I totally loved the One album by Fallen Fields, as it has the ups and downs, the fast and slow paced songs. This is a brilliant album, created by a brilliant band. I would highly recommend the One album to anyone who likes the Rock and Metal genres or to anyone who wants to listen to something new. So go and check Fallen Fields out on their Facebook page, you will not be disappointed.
I would give Fallen Fields and their Album One a 4.5 out of 5 for a brilliant, well crafted album
