June 1974: Nemesi Album Review

June 1974 is an Alternative band based out of Italy. the band consists of Federico Romano and who is a multi – instrumentalist.

When I got the Nemesi album through from June 1974, I was talking to Frederico via email, and he asked me if I was interested in doing a review for the album, and I said I would love to do the review. So, as I got the album a few weeks ago, this is the first chance that I could get to do the review, as I have been busy, but in the intervening time I have managed to listen to some of the tracks and play a couple on my radio show, Project Metal Across The Pond. And from what I have heard in those few weeks, the songs had got my interest, but at the same time, I just didn’t know what to make of the songs that I had heard.

As I sat down to do the review, I put on the album, to have a proper listen to it. Now I can see why it grabbed my attention, as the album is well constructed and well written. When I was listening to the some of the tracks the first time I put on the album, the first thing that popped into my head was, This album is very Prog Rock in its styling and in the styling of the Prog Rock of the early Seventies but with a modern take, with some influences from Yes and E.L.P. As I did a little research – like I do with every new band etc I get through – I noticed that Frederico was going for the Metal and Prog Metal styling for the Nemesi album.

Now, as I have listened to the album a couple of times now, I must admit that I really like the Nemesi album, I still – even now – don’t know what it is about the album, I think it is the combination of everything what Frederico has done the album, as there is no one pacific element that I cannot put my finger on, as it is – like I said – its Everything!!

The tracks that I have found that I liked or I have found interesting are: Sognando Klimt feat. Gionata Mirai (Il Teatro Degli Orrori), Inoubliable feat. Tommy Talamanca (Sadist), Narciso feat. John Cordoni (Necromass), Home feat. Francesco Conte (Klimt 1918), Panorama feat. Andy LaRocque (King Diamond)/Tommy Talamanca (Sadist), Nothing Man feat. Jørgen Munkeby (Shining), Death Note feat. Patrick Mameli (Pestilence), Arcadia feat. Paul Masvidal (Cynic), Creed feat. James Murphy (Obituary/Death) and Beloved feat. Francesco Sosto (The Foreshadowing).

On Nothing Man, there is a Saxophone playing on this track it doesn’t detract away anything from the track as, I first imagined, and in a way it enhances the track somewhat. The track Arcadia is a good song, but what I didn’t like on this, was the drums and the blast beats, as I am not keen on that style of drumming, but that is just me.

Overall, I really liked the Nemesi album and what June 1974’s Frederico has done. If you like the Prog Metal and Metal genre you’ll gonna like the June 1974, so I would recommend that you go and check out the band on their Facebook page.

I would give June 1974 and the Nemesi album a 4.5 out of 5 as it is a really good Prog Metal album
