Satan’s Empire: Rising Album Review

Satan’s Empire are a NWOBHM band from Peterborough and London, England, but they are originally from Dundee, Scotland. The consists of Paul Lewis – Guitar, Wayne Hudson – Bass, Derek Lyon – Vocals, Sandy Mcritchie – Guitar and Magpie – Drums.

Over the years that I have been listening to music, I have been primarily listening to Rock and Metal, and out of all the Rock and Metal genres, my favourites have always been Thrash, Speed and NWOBHM, as my favourite bands of all time are Motörhead and Iron Maiden.

When Satan’s Empire sent me their Rising album through, I put it on, just to get a general idea of what they are about, and when I heard the first track Slaves To Satan, I know straight away that they were NWOBHM with a slight hint of Speed and Thrash. And I knew that these guys are good, just from the first listen.

As I went through the album, the tracks that I have found that I liked or found interesting are: Slaves To Satan, Shout It Out Hail, Satan’s Empire, Soldiers Of War, Dragonslayer, Come Back, On The Road To Hell, Lucifer, Politician and Suicide Man.

All of the tracks that I have listed have some amazing guitars on them, as they have sweet riffs and shredding. On Suicide Man, the is a brilliant drum solo intro to the song. Now, with me being a fan of the NWOBHM, and I might be a bit biased, I do like this band because of the genre, as I been a huge fan of it for nearly 40 years, ever since I first heard Motorhead’s Ace Of Spades album back in 1980.

If you are into the NWOBHM genre or looking for a new band to get into, then I have to say that, I highly recommend that you have to go and check Satan’s Empire out on their Facebook page, as these guys are amazing.

I would give Satan’s Empire and their album Rising a 4.5 out of 5 brilliant album.
