When I heard about six weeks back that PWFV were doing a a gig at the Legacy in Sunderland, I had to go and see them again as they always put on a good show. On the same bill was Creature another brilliant unsigned and independent band from Newcastle.
As the day came and I got down to the bar/venue I found out that there was another band been added to the line up, the band was Void, a new band recently form, and from I was told, this gig was only their second gig since they were formed.
Now, when Void came to the stage, the two female lead singers were on the nervous side, as it was and like said this was only their second gig, plus me being there recording the gig for my radio show Project Metal Across The Pond With Ell Yong, as they started their set the singers were on the quiet side, but as they progressed into their second and third songs they got a bit more confidence, as Steph Mac the singer from PWFV was there at the front of the stage giving them some encouragement, and by the end of their set they were getting into it. I will keep an eye on these guys in future.
Well, What can I say about Creature, when they came to the stage I knew that they were going to rock, from the start to finish they brought it to another level, they shredded, they moshed, they riffed like their lives depended on it, and they kicked major ass on the night. I have seen these guys on two separate occasions and I thought they were good then, and I thought they brought their A game then, but on Saturday night they brought their AAA Game, and the crowd were loving them. They are a must see band and if you do get the chance to see them GO SEE THEM!!!!
If you are a regular reader, you will know that I am a big fan of PWFV, ever since I first saw them live way back in the beginning of 2016. In that time I have seen the about 15 times, So when I asked the band if I could bring my mobile studio, a laptop, a small sound desk and a microphone, to record the entire gig for my radio show, they said yes bring it down, so I did.
So, as PWFV came on stage, went for it they went through some of their songs from The Slag Who Fell To Earth, such as Aeon-Magus, Cold and Sticky Vicky, when they did Sticky Vicky Steph had said when they finished the song that it felt like they did it on super charge. they also done one of my favourite songs from the new album, Wisdom Of The Slave, I totally love the drums on this and Steph’s vocals.
After that they did one more track as an encore as the crowd cheering and shouting for more, but it was getting on for 11:25pm so that was it. So, all the bands were packing their gear up and so was I. It was a awesome gig.
I would like to Thank all the bands and the Legacy for allowing me to record the gig, it is very appreciated.
