Tantal are a Metal, Gothic, Progressive, Modern, Dark band from Moscow, Russia. The band consists of Sofia Raykova – vocals, Dmitry Ignatiev – guitars/keys, Ivan Izotov – bass and Srgey Serebrennikov – drums.
Over the last few years, I have come across some really good bands that have come out of Russia, with such bands Pagan Reign. When Tantal sent me the album Ruin, i was like, OK, what have you got? and when I put the album on, to see what they are about, and I was immediately drawn to them, because one of my favorite genres is Goth Metal and Goth Rock.
As I listened to the album, I was struck at how good a singer Sofia is, as her vocals fits very well with the style of music that Tantal are going for. Overall the music is brilliant, as it flows really well. The songs that I like or found interesting are: Constant Failure, Denial, Torn Inside, Drained, Torpid, A Hopeful Lie, Low, Ruin, Tears Of Yesterday and The Awakening.
On some of the tracks these are my general thoughts. Love the piano intro to Denial, as this sets up the song brilliant and the drums are amazing. On Torn Inside there is some sweet riffs, which people will appreciate. Totally love how Torpid starts out slow and methodical and then builds up and it has some really good riffs. With Tears Of Yesterday there is some really good acoustic guitars at the beginning and throughout the track, and some brilliant electric guitars to accompany the acoustic. Like Tears Of Yesterday, The Awakening follows on with the acoustic guitars at the start, This tells me that they can change the tempo and genre with ease.
Over all I totally loved the Ruin album by Tantal, as they have brilliant vocals, guitars, bass and drums going throughout the album. If you are looking for a new band, or into the Goth, Metal, Progressive genres, the Tantal is the band for you. I would highly recommend that you go and check out Tantal on their Facebook page.
I would give Tantal and their album Ruin a 4.5 out of 5, for a brilliant album.
