Brute are a Technical Brutal Death Metal and are from Vranov nad Topľou, Slovakia. The band consists of Štefan Tokár/Guitars/Lyrics, Radoslav Michalko/bassguitar, Martin Calko/vox, Marek Baran/Drums and Boris Palko/Guitars.
In the last year or so, I have been sent a lot of bands that do Death Metal, and some of them have been either one of Technical or Brutal Death Metal genre, but Brute combines both. On the first listen of the Henchmen album, I found that I started to like the combination of the two genres.
As I listened to this album a good few times, there is a quite few of the songs off this eight track offering that had caught my attention, for there sheer (pardon the pun) brutality. The tracks are Mutual Punishment, Severe Zeal, Walls Of Purple Hue, Three Days, this track starts out very slow for about a minute or so, and then goes into the Death Metal, which tells me that they are accomplished musicians and not afraid of adding different styles to there arsenal of music, and finally Dark Horizons, this track I like the most, as it has brilliant guitars on this.
All of these songs have some brilliant drumming, guitars and the vocals are amazing. Overall I really enjoyed the Henchmen album, and I will be playing them on Project Metal Across The Pond with Ell Yong radio show on Digital Revolution Radio.
If you are into the Death Metal and its sub genres, I would highly recommend that you go and check out Brute on their Facebook page, as you will not regret it.
I would give Brute and the Henchmen album a definite 4.5 out of 5, for a brilliant well rounded album, that has got me liking the Technical Brutal Death Metal genre even more.
