I have been waiting for this for gig at Holy Smokes in Sunderland for ages, it did seem like a life time away when I found out that PWFV announced the gig 3 – 4 weeks back, and I thought OH yeah I’m there, as they are one of the best bands that I have seen live.
When I got to the Holy Smokes venue, I was thinking OK, for nearly 2 years, I have been walking past this place when I have been in Sunderland city center. So I was wondering what it was like inside, as it is a restaurant and bar. Now that they are putting bands I’ll have to an eye on this place for the bands.
When I went into Holy Smokes, I managed to hear a sneak peek of PWFV sound check and they were doing a new track and it rocked. After the the sound check, I spoke to the lead singer briefly and she said that I got witness the new song that they were going to play on the night, and I was looking forward to listening to it in its entirety later on.
The first track they did, when they started was In Doom which is a brilliant track as an opener, and as they delved into their set the set they did Hateful, Mighty Aphrodite, Cold, Black Dahlia and their sort of anthem Sticky Vicky are songs off their E.P. The Slag Who Fell To Earth and whenever they do Sticky Vicky, this track always gets the crowd going.
Whilst in between the song they did they where getting interference from a radio station, and the lead singer was joking that she couldn’t get over it that they were getting of the station coming through the speakers and was laughing at about.
These next songs are newer songs that haven’t been released yet but are really good, they did Bruise Violet, Snake Head Bitch Tits, God Said, the new track that no one has heard yet Osiris, which was amazing, as they teased us on their Facebook page as they said that they were doing a brand new track tonight. They also done another track called Devil Inside, which was their penultimate track of their set, but when they where near the end of the song the guitarist was rocking out so hard that his amp give up ghost and died on him. The rest of the band carried on and finished the track, but he tried to fix it, but to no avail. The last track that they were going to play was Aeon-Magus which is a brilliant track, but with the guitarists amp dying, they couldn’t do this track and the gig finished.
I really enjoyed the gig and I would encourage anyone, if they get the chance, to go and see PussyWillowFurryVenus.
This was an amazing gig and I would give them a 5 out of 5 despite the guitarists amp dying on him.
