Scoparia: The Idol’s Dream Album Review

A few weeks back, Scoparia emailed me for a review of their E.P. The Idol’s Dream, so, here we are.

Scoparia are a Progressive Metal band from Hobart, Tasmania Australia. They have released an EP called The Idol’s Dream on May 6th 2016, you can get the EP (click here) at their bandcamp page. They have thrown in some Death Metal into the mix for good measure, which makes the EP sound brilliant.

The Idol’s Dream, this 9 minute 20 second song is the longest on the EP and is the title track. this track is epic, as the band blends Prog and Death Metal brilliantly into a song that takes you on a journey. It blends the Death growl and softer vocals superbly and coupled that with the guitars, they makes the overall sound amazing, from start to finish. This has made it onto my personal playlist.

Fog Of War, this follows on from The Idol’s Dream in its epicness. The song has some really cool guitars and vocals, I can see where some of their influences from, some of them are from Dream Theater and Opeth, just to name a few. On Pale Path, they is a perfect combination of electric and acoustic guitars, that makes the song soar on so many levels. It starts out with some brilliant soft electric and acoustic guitars then it builds near the end of the track into what I can only describe as a crescendo of sheer joy that only an aficionado of Prog/Death metal would enjoy.

Suppression is more of a Death Metal track for the most part, with some Prog Metal thrown in. On this track there is some amazing death growls from the start, and in the middle there is softer vocals to counter the death growls which is a good touch. This is a lot heavier than the previous 3 tracks, with some sweet guitars and drumming form the band. At 8 minutes 27 seconds, this could turn out to be one of those tracks that could be a future classic.

I would highly recommend that you check Scoparia out, you will no be disappointed. You can check them out on their Facebook page here, and on their Twitter page here.

I would definitely give this band a 4.5 out of 5 for creating some awesome Metal tracks

Project Metal Music.

  1. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the
book in it or something. I think that you can do with
some pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is
fantastic blog. An excellent read. I will definitely be back.
